Meditation and sleep app

Sacred Morning Time

A quiet app for the start and the end of the day. Meditate in the morning, sleep to soft noise at night, and tune your mind with binaural beats in between.

Works on iPhone and Android, on silent, with the screen locked, and offline.

Sleep sounds

The colours of noise

Noise is named after colours of light. Each one spreads its sound differently between the low and high notes, so each feels different to fall asleep to. Set a timer for up to 10 hours, or let it play all night.

The sleep sounds screen

White noise

A steady, even hiss, like a fan or an untuned radio.

Every frequency at the same level. It covers sudden sounds well: traffic, a snoring partner, a neighbour's door. Good for light sleepers and for blocking out an office.

Pink noise

Softer and rounder, like steady rain or wind through trees.

More weight in the low end and less hiss on top. Most people find it gentler than white noise for a whole night.

Brown noise

A deep, low rumble, like a far-off waterfall or the cabin of a plane.

The deepest of the three. Many people use it to settle a busy mind, to read or work, and to fall asleep.

Ocean

Waves rolling in and drawing back.

A slow rhythm to breathe with. For anyone who sleeps better near the sea.

Binaural beats and tones

Tune the mind, gently

A binaural beat plays a slightly different tone in each ear. Your brain hears the difference between them as a slow pulse. Choose the pulse to match the state you are after, from deep sleep to calm focus. Put headphones on for these, as the effect needs one tone in each ear.

Prefer something softer? Lay a quiet bed of white, pink or brown noise under any beat, or try the Golden Ratio tone on its own. Every option is explained in plain words inside the app.

0.5 to 4 Hz

Delta

Deep, dreamless sleep. The slowest band, for the end of the day.

4 to 8 Hz

Theta

The edge of sleep, deep meditation and daydreams. Good for the first minutes of a sit.

8 to 12 Hz

Alpha

Calm and awake. Eyes-closed rest, a gentle reset in the middle of the day.

Binaural beats are a relaxation aid, not a treatment. Don't use them while driving.

And for the morning

Guided meditations screen

Guided meditations

Sits of 10, 15 or 20 minutes. Mostly silence, with a few gentle cues to come back to the breath. Choose Paul's voice or one of two others.

Bell timer screen

Bell timer

For sitting in silence on your own. Set the length and add soft interval bells if you want them. It keeps going on silent and with the screen locked.

A line of wisdom each morning screen

What people say

“I open it before anything else. It doesn't nudge me, badge me, or try to become a habit tracker. Ten quiet minutes, then I'm in the day.”
Elise M., Brisbane
“I use it on the days I would otherwise scroll in bed. It gives the first part of the morning a shape. That's all I wanted from it.”
Luke F., Perth
“The screens are calm. No streaks, no points. I was sceptical of another morning app. This one hasn't annoyed me, which is rarer than it should be.”
Hannah B., Hobart
