“Step back and become the one who watches.”
Thoughts, feelings and reactions can fill your attention, but beneath them is something quieter: your ability to notice what is happening. A storm may fill the sky, but it does not become the sky. In the same way, a difficult feeling can move through you without defining who you are. Awareness begins when you pause and notice. Instead of being carried away by anger, you recognise: anger is here. Instead of accepting every anxious thought as truth, you see it as a story your mind is telling. That small pause creates space. And within that space, you have a choice.
An angry thought is not an order you must obey. An anxious thought is not a prediction of what will happen. Both can be noticed, felt and allowed to pass. This card asks you to practise that pause. Observe what is happening within you without judging it or pushing it away. What you can notice is part of your experience, but it is not the whole of who you are. Remembering this can bring great peace. Yet awareness is not only about stepping back. It also brings you into closer contact with life. You may recognise a hemp plant from a distance, but you experience it more fully when you draw near. Seeing the shape of its leaves, feeling the strength of its fibres and noticing its earthy scent. Step back when emotion threatens to carry you away. Draw close when the moment asks to be felt. Awareness gives you the freedom to do both.
AffirmationI am the spacious awareness that holds every experience, untouched and free.
