“Gently restore what has drifted out of balance.”
Health, in the body and in life, is largely a matter of balance. The right ratio, the steady middle path between opposing forces. The hemp seed's reputation rests on its near-perfect balance of omega oils; health follows proportion, not extremes. Balance appears when something in your life has tipped too far in one direction. Too much work, not enough rest. Too much giving, not enough receiving. Is there too much thinking or not enough feeling? The imbalance is rarely dramatic; it creeps in gradually, until what was a healthy emphasis has become a costly excess. This card asks you to notice where you have over-committed in one area of your life, and to gently restore what has been neglected. Notice that balance is not stillness. It is a constant, living adjustment. Like a body standing upright, making thousands of tiny corrections.
You do not achieve balance once and keep it; you practise it, moment by moment, leaning back the other way each time you drift. There is also a teaching about moderation as wisdom rather than dullness. The extremes are seductive; the sustainable life is lived in the centre. Look at the whole mix of your life right now, and add weight wherever something vital has been starved. Even this plant carries the teaching: used with care, hemp restores balance; used to excess, it takes balance away.
AffirmationI restore balance through constant, gentle adjustment, and I live well in the centre.
